xx_lovelain_xx's LJ about her fic, Second Chance. One comment lead to another and we ended up with these short snippets. We've had enormous fun writing these, so we're thinking of continuing this into a mini-series, granted we have the time and inspiration.
Oh, what am I talking about? It's CHIBIAKAME! There's plenty of inspiration!! (^_____^)
Lesson #1: the puppy eyes
Ri-Ri: OK, Kazuya. We'll work with your best assets. Now, Open your eyes REALLY big. Yes that's good... Great! They're starting to water. That's perfect! You're a natural. Now, remember this. This is called your 'puppy eye' look. It's a very powerful weapon. You can make people do anything you want with it. Now go try it on Jin. Ask him to buy you a piece of land when you're of marrying age.
bebeKazu: JinJin?
Jin turns around. He's confronted with a pair of wide, shimmering eyes. He gulps, feeling protective suddenly.
chibiJin: Yes, Kazu?
bebeKazu: Promise me something?
Jin nods. "Anything!"
bebeKazu: Buy me lane,uhm..lan-land when we grow up?
chibiJin: *hugs Kazu* Of course, Kazu! I'll buy you TWO!
bebeKazu: LOVE JINJIN!!
Lesson #2: the quivering lip
Kazuya toddled up to Jin with a determined look in his eyes. From where he was, Tatsuya raised an eyebrow at Ryo who was standing behind the little Kazuya and shook his head, as he joined Ryo in watching what was going on.
Jin turned around when he felt something hit him from behind.
There was a thud.
"Kazu!" he shouted when he saw Kazuya look up at him with wide, watering eyes, "Kazu, you...are you okay?!!!" he panicked.
Kazu's lower lip started quivering and Jin's own eyes widened as he stared at the toddler.
"HURTS" Kazu whimpered, lip quivering even more "HURTS JINJIN"
Jin's eyes were wide and panicked.
"um...oh...um..." he looked down at the lollipop in his hand and gave it to Kazuya. Kazuya slowly put the lollipop in his mouth, eyes wide.
"Lovejinjin" Kazuya mumbled with his lips around the lollipop. Behind his back, Kazuya's other hand was formed into a victory sign directed at Ryo.
Ryo smiled proudly.
Lesson #8: puffed out cheeks and scrunched up face of frustration
Kazuya looked up with an upset expression at the door of the cupboard, where he knew the cookies were hidden.
His little hand reached to grab onto the handle but he could barely wrap his fingers around the handle and he pulled as hard as he could.
With a yelp, he fell backwards and landed on the floor.
Kazuya blinked for a moment and he scrunched up his face and puffed his cheeks out, a frustrated wail escaping his lips.
"Kazu, what's wrong??" Jin was instantly by his side, holding his toy robot in his hand, "Kazu??"
"Want" Kazuya sniffed, "cookies" he puffed out his cheeks again, "cookies" he wailed loudly.
"I'll get them for you!" Jin cried out, not wanting to see Kazuya's eyes fill with tears. He opened the cupboard door easily and got the jar of cookies out of the cupboard, "here!"
Kazuya gave a squeal of delight as he used both hands to turn the lid of the container and then dug both hands in and pulled out a large cookie, "cookie!" he said happily, "Love JinJin!!!!"
"Love you too" Jin said happily, sitting down next to Kazuya.
"JinJin want cookie?" Kazu asked, holding out his cookie with both hands and happy eyes.
Jin grinned and took a bite out of the cookie. Kazuya beamed and took a bite too.
Near the doorway of the kitchen, Ryo shook his head defensively, "I didn't teach him that..."
"The puffed out cheeks?" Tatsuya asked, "The cute way to scrunch up his face? Me neither..."
"...then..."
"Kazu-chan's a quick learner isn't he?" Pi remarked as he walked by, "No wonder you guys find this so fun"
Tatsuya and Ryo exchanged looks of bewilderment.
Meanwhile, Jin had just gotten another bite of Kazuya's cookie and was clapping happily as Kazuya dug out another cookie from the jar that was between his little baby legs.
Lesson #9: curling up like acarshrimp
After a tiring day in daycare, Kazuya arrived home on Jin’s bike, barely awake. Tatsuya helped him take a quick shower and slipped the toddler into his pajamas. Jin had thrown a tantrum and outright refused to sleep so early.
Carrying Kazuya into the nursery, Tatsuya was surprised when Kazuya refused to let go when he tried to place him onto the bed. “Kazuya? It’s naptime,” Tatsuya murmured, gently stroking the child’s head.
Kazuya buried his face deeper into Tatsuya’s shoulder, little fists tightening around his shirt. “Want JinJin,” came the muffled reply.
Tatsuya sighed. “Jin is doing his work in the living room. You understand, right?”
Kazuya sniffled as he let Tatsuya tuck him in. “Say night night to JinJin?” he asked, using the puppy eyes on Tatsuya.
Tatsuya sighed again, wondering if he should ban Ryo from talking to Kazuya until the toddle enters high school. “Okay, I’ll ask him to come say goodnight to you.”
Tatsuya closed the door and stepped into the living room. Jin was lying sprawled on the floor, crayons scattered around him as he worked on his artwork. The tip of Jin’s tongue was stuck out the corner of his mouth, brows furrowed in concentration.
“Jin?” Tatsuya called out. Jin continued a few more strokes before looking up. “Yes, Tat-tat?”
Tatsuya’s eyebrow twitched. “I’ve told you so many times. Call me Tatsuya-jichan,” he muttered. “Kazuya’s going to sleep. Why don’t you wish him a good night?” he said, louder.
A pout formed on Jin’s face. “But I want to do my colouring.”
Tatsuya rolled his eyes, then narrowed them at the child. “It only takes a minute, Jin. Just go say goodnight.”
Getting quickly onto his feet, Jin gulped and ran for Kazuya’s room.
Inching the door open, he was faced with the toddler’s back. Kazuya was curled up, almost in a fetal position. Jin tip-toed closer, peeking at Kazuya’s face. The toddler looked so lonely and sad. “Kazu?” he whispered.
Kazuya’s eye fluttered open, and he reached out for JinJin. “JinJin… Cold,” he murmured.
“Okay, I’ll sleep with you,” Jin whispered again, crawling under the covers with Kazuya. Kazuya snuggled closer. As he drifted off to sleep, Jin heard a sleepy “LoveJinJin” followed by Kazuya’s even breaths. Jin smiled, burying his face into the toddler’s soft hair.
Tatsuya quietly closed the door, making his way back into the living room. A small smile played on his face as he kept away Jin’s crayons. Maybe having Ryo’s influence was not that bad after all.
Lesson #10: the thumb in mouth
Jin happily walked into the room, followed by Ryo and he waved cheerily at Tatsuya.
"Where Kazu?" he asked immediately, not even waiting for an answer before he headed toward Kazuya's room.
"He should be waking up from his nap soon" Tatsuya mused, "Why don't you go wake him up Jin?"
"Okay Tat-tat!" Jin cheered and ran off. Tatsuya twitched and sent an accusing look at Ryo. Ryo merely smirked.
Jin ran into Kazuya's sroom and was awarded with the sight of Kazuya trying to sit up in his crib and rubbing his eyes as he did so. Kazuya yawned once and he smiled sleepily but contently when he looked at Jin, "Jinjin!"
"Kazu!" jin bounced to the crib, "Hi Kazu!"
"JinJin...Kazu up!" Kazu demanded still a bit sleepily, his thumb in his mouth as he stared at JinJin with pleading eyes, "Kazu up!"
Jin hesitated, "But Tat-tat said no more up..."
"Kazu up, Jinjin~~" Kazu said softly, looking up at Jin with his thumb in his mouth, eyes wide and imploring. Those eyes blinked once innocently.
"Okay!" Jin agreed easily after that and went to push the chair in the corner over to the crib. He climbed up on it and Kazuya lifted his arms so that Jin to lift him up. Jin held the baby in his arms, helping Kazuya to get his legs over the side of the crib and kept a tight hold of the baby clinging to him.
Kazuya smiled happily when he was out of the crib and was lifted in Jin's arms, and he buried his face into Jin's shoulder, "Love JinJin" he mumbled as his feet dangled just a bit above the chair, lifted up in the air by Jin's arms around him and he clung to Jin, "Love JinJin lots"
In the doorway, Tatsuya twitched, "I swear, if he had dropped Kazu..."
"No worries" Ryo waved it off, "Kazu's been practicing"
And this was the start of this fun-filled adventure:
Kazuya looked up at Jin with wide eyes and Jin paused, cookie halfway to his mouth. He pouted at Kazuya and broke the cookie in half, handing the other half to Kazuya who held the large cookie in his hands, barely able to hold onto it properly.
"Love JinJin" Kazuya mumbled as he chewed on the cookie, "Love JinJinJIn lots"
Jin broke into a grin but then pouted again, "You've gotta stop pouting at me Kazu-chan~~"
"But Kazu love JinJin" Kazuya paused, "And JinJin baka"
Jin froze, looking at Kazuya with wide eyes, "Kazu!!! Where did you learn that??"
"Ri-Ri" was the simple answer.

Ryo smiled proudly.
Lesson #3: eyes obscured by bangs with head ducked
Jin's eyes widened as he caught sight of Kazuya trying to climb onto his bike. Fearing for the toddler's safety, he rushed over from the sandbox.
"Hey!" Nakamaru yelped, getting sprayed by sand thrown in Jin's haste.
Ryo stood near the swings, attention focused on the struggling four year old.
Kazuya managed to drape the upper half of his body on the seat, his little feet kicking in the air. He was about to swing his right leg over when he was grabbed forcefully from behind.
Stumbling backwards, he found himself in Jin's tight embrace. He turned around to see an angry Jin.
"Kazu! What were you trying to do?" Jin shouted.
Kazuya's eyes widened in shock before he ducked his head. "I'm sor-sorry," he stammered.
Jin began to panic. He couldn't see Kazuya's eyes from this angle, and he was afraid he had made the younger boy cry.
"JinJin was busy, but Kazu wan-wanted to sit on JinJin's bike... Kazu is sorry for playing with your things, JinJin. Kazu made JinJin angry..." the younger boy continued in a quiet voice.
"Oh, Kazu! I didn't mean it like that! I was scared you might hurt yourself," Jin exclaimed, putting his hands on Kazuya's cheeks and gently lifted the younger boy's head.
Jin was surprised when Kazuya resisted. "Kazu, forgive me? I promise! No matter what I'm doing, if you want a ride, tell me, okay? I'll take you anywhere you want, anytime! It's a promise!"
Jin linked his right pinkie with Kazuya's left. "So, you forgive me?" Jin asked.
Kazuya merely nodded.
"Look at me?" Jin asked, trying to lift Kazuya's face up again.
This time, he met no resistance as Kazuya's smiling face looked back up at him. Jin returned the smile and helped Kazuya onto his bike.
Peals of laughter echoed around the playground as Jin made motorbike sounds amid Kazuya's excited screams of "LOVEJINJIN!"
"Will you stop turning your grandchild into a domesticated wuss?" Yamapi punched Ryo lightly on the shoulder.
Lesson #4: thedamsel baby in distress
Jin looked around for Kazuya, eyes searching wildly for the toddler who was supposed to be somewhere around here. He spotted Kazuya on the other side of the pool, being taught how to swim with those little floaties around his arms by Ryo.
He smiled at the sight and then decided to try to swim further, out of the very shallow end for little babies. He saw Kazuya waving to him with a pout, but he just grinned and swam further; he didn't want to play with the baby stuff and he told Kazuya that before and this time, he wouldn't give into the pouting!!!
He was jolted out of his attempt to swim further when he heard a shout of surprise from behind him.
He turned to see Kazuya trying to get to Jin, apparently having escaped Ryo.
"JINJIN!!" Kazuya yelled and a second later, that yell turned into gurgles as some water entered Kazuya's mouth. He flailed wildly with his floaties.
"Kazu!!!" Jin yelled back, a bit panicked seeing Kazuya struggle in the water. Kazuya couldn't swim!
"Hang on!!"
"WANT JINJIN!!!" Kazuya continued to struggle in the water, trying his best to kick his little feet to get to JIn.
Jin quickly swam over and was soon in front of Kazuya.
"JINJIN!!!" Kazuya yelled happily as he wrapped his arms around Jin, "Play JinJin??" he asked happily.
Jin looked at Kazuya who looked tired from all that swimming and he sighed, "Okay..." He resigned himself to being doomed to playing in the kiddie area of the pool for the next hour.
Kazuya gave a squeal of joy, "LOVE JINJIN!!!"
Tatsuya sat down next to Ryo, "You already taught him to swim last month, didn't you?"
"Not my fault my grandson's an idiot"
Lesson #5: the green-eyed monster
Kazuya squealed happily as he held on tightly to Koki's head. Koki had the toddler riding on his shoulders as he did a few carefully choreographed unstable turns.
They were ice skating on froze lake surrounded by freshly fallen snow in the mountains. Jin had bought the place when he was alive, in memory of Kame, who loved the secluded spot.
Further up, Tatsuya and Yamapi were relaxing on the veranda of the log cabin, sipping their hot cocoa.
"Kazu has taken a liking to Koki," Yamapi noted, exhaling a white puff of air.
"That's because he rarely gets to see him. And Koki's bald head fascinates him," Tatsuya shrugged.
Yamapi nodded absently. "Where's Jin?" He let his eyes wander around the property, looking for his grandson.
"He's over there, sulking," Ryo answered, stomping the ice off his boots as he made his way up. He made a gesture to a small form standing with his arms crossed at his chest at the edge of the lake.
Jin didn't understand what was so cool about the baldy. Sure, he can rap. But Jin can blow bubbles out his nose. And sure, he's taller, and Kazu liked being held up high. But Jin was at just the right height for Kazuya to kiss on the cheek. And sure, Koki's older, but he's older in a creepy old man way, unlike Jin.
Another squeal of laughter broke into Jin's thoughts. Koki had thrown the toddler into the air before catching him safely into his arms. Jin was sure he could do that too, as soon as he grew a bit bigger.
"LoveKoki!" Kazuya squealed in glee. Jin could feel his eyes tearing up. His little heart hurt. Kazuya loved someone else.
He sat down on the ice, defeated. Rubbing his wet eyes, he began to sniffle quietly.
"Jin? What's wrong? Did you fall?" Koki asked, skating over with Kazuya holding his hand.
Jin glared at Koki, refusing to speak. He got up unsteadily, stomping away.
"JinJin?" Kazuya called after him, struggling to catch up. Kazuya's skates caught on a piece of ice and he went stumbling down.
"Are you okay? Baka!" Jin pouted, helping Kazuya stand. Jin kneeled down to brush the ice off Kazuya's legs.
Kazuya patted Jin's head. "JinJin don't like skating?"
"No," Jin answered, shaking his head. "I like snowmen."
"JinJin build snowman for Kazu?" Kazuya offered. Jin beamed.
"How about a few more rounds before you do that, Kazu-chan?" Koki asked, crouching to Kazuya's height.
Jin quickly lost his smile. He batted Koki's head with his gloved palm. "Kazu wants to play snowman with me," he pouted.
"Un! Kazu wants biiiiiig snowman!" Kazuya exclaimed. Jin immediately grabbed the younger boy's arms and dragged him away from Koki.
"Man. That brat reminds me too much of Akanishi," Koki muttered as he joined the adults.
"Yeah? That's because Ryo keeps teaching Kazuya to be exactly like Kame," Yamapi answered, passing a hot cup of cocoa to Koki.
Ryo look appalled. "Hey! I didn't teach him to make Jin jealous!" Yamapi narrowed his eyes suspiciously at that.
Tatsuya cleared his throat as he watched Jin putting the finishing touches on a snowman at least twice his size. "Actually, I taught Kazuya that."
"DONE!" Jin yelled triumphantly. Kazuya ran around the snowman a few times before launching himself at Jin. "LOVEJinJin the most!"
Jin's eyes widened as he caught sight of Kazuya trying to climb onto his bike. Fearing for the toddler's safety, he rushed over from the sandbox.

Lesson # 6: the stuffed animal and the feetie pyjamas
Tatsuya turned around when he heard shuffling noises and he watched in amusement as Kazuya shuffled down the hallway, to where the others were sitting, having desert after dinner.
"Jinjin..." Kazuya said softly but it echoed through the room.
"Kazu!!!" Jin cried out happily as he bounded over to Kame who was wearing feetie pyjamas with bunny ears on top of the hood and was holding a white teddy tear.
"No sleep JinJin..." Kazuya said softly with tearing eyes, "No sleep"
"Can't sleep?" Jin asked in concern.
Kazuya shook his head with a mournful pout, head adorned with a hood with bunny ears ducked just a little.
Jin's eyes widened as that sight, "I'll help you sleep!" Jin declared proudly, "c'mon Kazu!"
"JinJin sing?" Kazuya was heard asking softly.
A moment later, Jin was heard singing 'twinkle twinkle little star' loudly at the top of his lungs while there was a clapping noise and Kazuya's voice squealed, "LOVE JINJIN!!!"
The adults looked in amusement at each other.
"...didn't Kazu stop wearing feetie pyjamas two months ago?" Junno asked curiously, "I was sure you told me he'd finally stop wearing them!" he pointed accusingly at Tatsuya.
Tatsuya merely gave him a raised eyebrow and turned an accusing look at Ryo.
Ryo, unfazed, put some sugar in his coffee, "By the way, I'm taking Kazu out for ice cream tomorrow"
"Huh?"
"He's getting good " was the answer Ryo gave looking a bit embarassed.
Before the others could comment, there was a sudden padding sound and Kazuya toddled into view, still wearing his pyjamas and climbed up Ryo's leg and gave Ryo a hug, "Night Night Ri-Ri!! love Ri-Ri too!" he said, his cheek and the teddy's bear cheek pressing against Ryo's chest before he climbed back down and ran off back to his bedroom singing, "ice cream, ice cream, ice cream~~"
"Not.A.Word." Ryo warned the others who were looking as though they were going to laugh at him, "not.a. word."
"Jinjin..." Kazuya said softly but it echoed through the room.

Lesson #7: The pout and sniffle combo
Jin kicked the ball happily into the goal past a bored Ryo. They had been playing soccer for the past half an hour. It was Ryo's turn to babysit the children this weekend.
Kazuya was sitting at the sidelines with Junno. He was becoming awfully bored as Junno was more interested in his portable gaming console.
Kazuya carefully stood up and picked up his baseball bat and ball. He waved the bat enthusiastically at Jin, who ran past for another goal.
Jin was concentrating so hard on the ball, he didn't see Kazuya. Kazuya dropped his bat next to him dejectedly.
At the goal, Ryo stifled a yawn. Seeing Kazuya trying hard to catch Jin's attention, he waved to the toddler.
Having successfully caught the four-year-old's attention, he held up a clenched fist with the thumb and index finger extended.
Kazuya nodded, picking his bat up again. Balancing it on his shoulder, he tossed the ball into the air. He did a full swing, completely missing the ball and landing on the ground with a yelp.
Jin immediately stopped his dribbling when he heard Kazuya's yelp. Seeing the younger child in a heap on the floor, he quickly ran over.
"Kazu! Are you okay?" Jin quickly checked Kazuya for injuries. The toddler had a grass smudge on his left cheek, but overall, looked fine.
Kazuya looked up at Jin with a pout. Then, he began to sniffle, bringing his little fist up to rub his right eye. He sniffled a few more times.
"Does it hurt? Where?" Jin asked in a concerned voice, patting Kazuya on the head.
Kazuya shook his head. "Cannot hit..." he sniffled.
"Don't cry, Kazu! I'll throw the ball for you, okay?" Jin consoled. Kazuya looked up to him, pout still in place.
"If I throw it, you'll hit it for sure!" Jin said proudly. "We're unbeata..uhm..unbea..um... we'll do it!"
Kazuya nodded happily. He ran a little way off from where Jin stood. Jin threw the ball gently towards Kazuya.
Kazuya swung his bat and the ball went sailing to the middle of the field. Jin ran off to fetch the ball.
Once he returned, Kazuya exclaimed happily, "Again!"
Jin's grin matched Kazuya's. "Okay, get ready, Kazu! Here it comes!"
Once again, Kazuya hit the ball towards the middle of the field. Jin retrieved the ball. "Again?" he asked, slightly breathless.
Kazuya nodded happily. "LoveJinJin!!"
Ryo settled down on the grass next to Junno, watching the two children play.
"You're going to turn Kazuya into a manipulative person," Junno mentioned quietly.
"It doesn't matter. It'll only affect Jin," Ryo replied, lying down for a nap.

Lesson #9: curling up like a
After a tiring day in daycare, Kazuya arrived home on Jin’s bike, barely awake.
